For many years, the fireplace was the classic Kiwi method for heating the home, and while they provide a wonderful, cosy atmosphere, they can also be inefficient and expensive. In recent years, heat pumps have come to replace traditional fires, and are now considered the standard for home heating in new builds or renovations. Davies’ engineers are fully trained and qualified installers of Daikin heat pumps, and can provide regular servicing to make sure your heat pump continues to work as it should long into the future.

In recent years, in-floor/underfloor heating has become a staple in new builds thanks to decreasing installation costs and increased efficiency of operation. Made from a network of water filled plastic pipes, in-floor/underfloor heating provides consistent, radiant heat throughout your home. Underfloor heating does not create ‘cold spots’ in a room, improves air quality, and has the added benefit of being concealed, giving you a warm, cosy and uncluttered home.  Heat sources can be either hot water heat pumps, diesel condensing boilers or gas condensing boilers. Davies provide a full design and build service of these systems and service to maintain these systems also.

Daikin Altherma Hot Water Heat Pump System for In-floor Central Heating: These systems are extremely popular and increasing in demand by the day due to the performance of the equipment and Daikin’s high quality. These systems also offer low running costs for the heating of the whole home and the hot water cylinder, along with a full five year parts and labour warranty for added peace of mind. Daikin Altherma hot water heat pump heating systems are the latest in-floor heating system that will heat both the in-floor heating system and the hot water cylinder for the home, which are extremely popular in New Builds. The Daikin systems are renowned for superior cold climate performance, quality and reliability.

The quality, reliability, and performance of the Daikin Altherma system is incomparable to anything else on the market, and Davies possess years of experience with installing in-floor heating systems of this kind.

Daikin Ducted Systems in Ceiling and Floor - since 1909 central heating systems have been a Davies specialty. Our engineers can construct a central heating system that utilises radiators, in-floor hot water systems, or ducted air systems, which are powered by a full range of fuels.

Daikin Ducted Heat Pump Central Heating: Ducted heat pumps are the most popular central systems used in homes, as they have the added advantage of being cheaper to install than radiators and in-floor heating. Daikin’s ducted systems have high efficiencies, superior cold climate performance, and features to suit any application. These systems are very popular in new homes and commercial buildings, and ducting can be run either in the ceiling space to ceiling outlet grilles, or under the floor to floor grilles, in a range of designs to suit. Heat pump powered, hot water in-floor heating systems are also growing quickly in popularity due to the comfort they deliver.

Hot water heat pumps are an increasingly popular option for domestic hot water needs due to their high levels of efficiency. Unlike a traditional electric or gas water heater, a hot water heat pump does not actively produce heat – it works by taking heat energy from the outside air and using it to heat the water to heat the in-floor heating system or the hot water cylinder. This is a much more efficient method of heating, and one that can be connected to in-floor heating systems and hot water cylinders. Davies use the Daikin Altherma Hot Water Heat Pump systems which are extremely popular in new home builds.

A common fixture in many New Zealand homes, and found throughout schools, offices and other large institutions, radiators provide that wonderful cosy heat that we look for in the winter months. Radiators work by heating a fluid, often in a central location, and pumping it around the radiator unit, where the heat is then passed and transferred into the surrounding air. Although not as common in new homes, radiators are still widespread throughout New Zealand, heat sources can be either diesel boilers or gas boilers using high efficiency condensing type boilers, and Davies can provide installation and ongoing servicing to radiator and central heating systems large and small.

Diesel burners are an efficient and low-cost method of heating a home or workplace. These furnaces work by using a diesel fired burner to heat the furnaces heat exchanger to heat the air which is ducted throughout the home or commercial building. Diesel furnaces are less common in New Zealand, but provide great heat at fairly cost effective prices, and can be used to heat a home or commercial property. Davies provide installation repair and servicing of these systems.

Davies is a Commercial HVAC specialist in Design and Build as we are registered/ qualified for design of Commercial systems, we also can carry out consultant drawn Tender work ( see our projects page for some of the works we have carried out ). Davies is also IQP registered for the Maintenance / Service of such systems for the BWOF requirements.
